Cherry Blossoms      1 to 35 of 35

The Cherry Blossom is a popular design element in Japanese culture. Cherry blossoms represent the coming of spring and the Japanese appreciation of this simple, yet elegant flower is evident in the multitude of Cherry Blossom Viewing activities and Cherry Blossom festivals. Due to Portland's long-standing (though not always honorable) relationship with Japan and our Japanese-American citizenry, our city is blessed with multitudes of flowering cherry trees, including those that line our waterfront park. It literally rains cherry blossoms throughout the city in late March or early April.
